Nathan Van Der Steen, excels in the world of interior design and interior architecture, has left an indelible mark on projects, showcasing commitment to positive impact. As a head designer for the Four Seasons Hotel at Water Tower Place in Chicago, he transformed spaces into luxurious yet functional environments. His leadership and design talents were instrumental in the rebuilding of the former Florida White House of President Nixon, demonstrating historical sensitivity and contemporary innovation.
Other projects include waterfowl land reclamation, endangered fish protection, invasive plant species removal and floodplain erosion mitigation design.
Nathan's passion for design goes beyond conventional boundaries, evident in projects for a private children's respiratory hospital, intended to create sanctuaries for terminal children. His innovative designs include a garden, chapel, and aquarium, featuring outdoor oxygen stations. These station would allow patients to be brought outdoors while in their beds or wheelchairs, enabling them to experience fresh air, sunshine, rain, snow, and the beautiful sights and sounds of nature. Nathan studied interior design, interior architecture as well as fine arts at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, historic preservation, restoration and nonverbal communication at American Intercontinental University London, business courses from the Ensign College Self Reliance, Starting and Growing My Business, and Personal Finance.
Nathan is not only a conscientious designer, he is also a talented artist. His work extends to charitable causes, frequently donating his art for auction to support community organizations. Through his holistic approach to design and artistry, Nathan Van Der Steen continues to inspire and uplift, leaving an enduring impact on both aesthetic and humanitarian aspects of the spaces he helps create.
When asked what Nathan's 2 year plan is. "Strategizing to promote a positive awareness of local and nationwide nonprofits and the companies, programs and individuals that support them. Teaching self reliance, capacity building, corporate stewardship, to bring social impact and self reliance tourism dollars back to Utah through the nonprofit organization that he founded Turn Together Foundation.
